"*When* : Saturday, 1/31/26 @9:00 AM, rain or shine

*Where* : Mt. Tabor main entrance at SE 64th Street and Lincoln (Portland, Oregon)

*Route* : From the Lincoln St. entrance, we will walk around the main reservoir that borders 60th street, exit the park at SE 60th to walk north for a few blocks, and take a right at Salmon Street to re-enter the park. We will continue walking up that paved, main road to the middle reservoir and keep going as it winds around to the east and then heads back north. From there, we will wend our way back to the Lincoln St. entrance.

We all have different bodies and abilities. Please take care of yourself and end when it's appropriate, but plan for 45-60 minutes for the whole walk.

Who is organizing this? I am a long-time resident of South Tabor. Since April, I have been searching for another way to protest (in addition to the marches, donations, calls/letters to congress) that is oriented toward community gathering. After many ideas, the walking monks with their dog, Aloka, were the inspiration I needed to put this idea into motion.

Just show up, be quiet, and we'll see what happens."

(If you plan to participate, please park a few blocks away if possible and do not block driveways, sidewalk ramps, and fire lanes. Thank you.)

Blogger notes This event is not sponsored by the MTNA or any nonprofit or government entity. It is an event organized by neighbors and an exercise of our U.S. Constitution's first amendment rights: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
