Area Demographics and Housing Data

​Click here to view lots of interesting demographic data for the Mt. Tabor Neighborhood from the US Census in 2020 and in 2010. Portland State University and the City of Portland work together every ten years to adjust the Census data to fit our neighborhood boundary.

In 2020, the Mt. Tabor Neighborhood had 10,196 residents living in 4,756 households. Our neighborhood was 78% white--down from 85% in 2010. Median household income was $95,000. Our voter turnout in 2020 was 87%. Of our children from 5 to 17 years old, 76% attended public school. Our home ownership rate was 63%.

The Census Bureau recognized boundary that most closely matches the Mt. Tabor Neighborhood Association's boundary is zip code 97215.*  When we write “our area” below, we mean “97215.” Data below is taken from the 2017 American Community Survey done by the federal Census Bureau.

Please remember that the people who volunteer with MTNA do so out of an interest in participating in government, and building community with their fellow Portlanders... not necessarily to be an ambassador for their sex, generation, race, ethnicity, orientation or socio-economic level.
