Neighborhood survey gets great response
By Diane Redd, MTNA president
More than 500 Mt. Tabor households (out of about 4,300) responded enthusiastically to the green survey enclosed in the spring newsletter. This is a better than 10 percent response rate, which will provide the neighborhood association with good information on what issues matter most to area residents. As of this writing, almost all the surveys have been tallied, but we do not have results to share yet. Results will be presented and discussed at the August 18 MTNA meeting, 7:30 p.m. at Bueermann Hall, Western Seminary. Congratulations to Chris Bonner, of 53rd Ave., who won the gift certificate to the Sapphire Hotel in the June drawing of those households who returned the survey.
We are pleased that the new MTNA website, www.mttaborpdx.org, and email list are active and being used by neighbors to get up-to-date neighbor-hood news and information. Check out the articles in this issue to learn how you can connect with these electronic tools.
Neighbors at recent neighborhood association meetings have discussed the upcoming changes to Hawthorne at 49th and 50th Avenues, the development of a policy for making decisions about amplified noise in Mt. Tabor Park, the siting of cell facilities at the WorldView Center at 60th & Taylor, proposed changes to the off-leash policy in Mt. Tabor Park, and the temporary decision by the city to monitor rather than cover the open reservoirs. Review meeting minutes and correspondence relating to MTNA decisions at www.mttaborpdx.org.
MTNA elected new board members Bill Guthrie, Bunny and Gayle Marechal, and Jennifer Pultz. They join current members Eric Bosler, Nadine Fiedler, Charles Heying, Dave Hillman, Dave Hilts, Laura Gordon, John Laursen, Paul Leistner, Nancy Norby, Diane Redd, John Turner, John Wish, Mary Ann Seth Wish, and Bing Wong. MTNA board members serve one year terms. Denise Brem, Michael Harrison, and Molly Hilts left the board after offering significant contributions over a number of years. We appreciate all the board members and MTNA volunteers who help to make this a wonderful neighborhood in which to live.
