Dear Mt. Tabor Resident,
Last spring you completed a green survey for the neighborhood association. On it you indicated that you might be interested in serving on a park off-leash committee. The Mt. Tabor Neighborhood is hosting a series of meetings to craft a Good Neighbor Agreement between the neighborhood and the Portland Park Bureau around the use of the Mt. Tabor Park Off Leash Area.
We are seeking three Mt. Tabor Park off-leash users to volunteer to serve on this committee. Your participation would be balanced by the involvement of three neighbors adjacent to the area, single representatives of the Park Bureau, MTNA, Friends of the Park, and Warner Pacific College, and three citizens at large. We have a professional facilitator to help us through this process. The committee will meet most Wednesday evenings for two months from 7-9 PM starting February 2 and all participants must commit to attend all meetings.
We are limiting participation to park off-leash users who have not had any warnings or citations for inappropriate off-leash use. In order to select good participants from the many people who are interested in this issue, we would like candidates to send us a note about themselves. Please tell us your experience with the Mt. Tabor Park Off-leash Area and any ideas you have about long-term maintenance of the site. We would also like to know about 1) your experience with citizen or neighborhood organizations, 2) any leadership positions that you have held with citizen groups or organizations, and 3) why you would like to be involved with this committee. Lastly, if you cannot be involved, can you recommend someone else who would be a good representative of the off-leash user-community. We would need a name and an email address/phone number for contact purposes.
We will accept electronic nominations until Wednesday, 1/26/05. An ad hoc committee from MTNA will chose the three representatives. Thanks for considering this request. This is an extremely important issue for Mt. Tabor neighbors and one that many people feel strongly about. We hope to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Diane Redd
MTNA President
